Itinerary: Bormio - S.Caterina Valfurva - Rifugio dei Forni - Rifugio Branca

Description of the route: Starting in Bormio, take the SS 300 (statal road), which brings you to Santa Caterina Valfurva. Before entering the village of S. Caterina, take a left into the direction of the Forni Glacier ("Ghiacciaio dei Forni"). This road leads up to the "Rifugio dei Forni", an ascent that takes some efforts. At the "Rifugio dei Forni", at an altitude of 2176 metre, you will enjoy a great view of the glacier and the moraines left by the glacier, which is in the phase of moving back. If you follow on now on the right hand side of the valley you will reach the "Rifugio Branca", an ideal place to observe the whole glacier and most of the thirteen peaks, which are surrounding the valley.
